DENTAL SERVICES

DENTAL FILLINGS

A dental filling is the material or materials used in restoring a tooth’s outer surface. Gold is one of the best materials that gum tissue will tolerate and can last 20 years or more. Silver (amalgam) is one of the lease expensive materials and is resistant to wear. Composite or Resin is used when you want your filling to match the color of your tooth. Cerec® inlay or onlay is a porcelain filling that is the same color as your natural tooth and made in the office while you wait.

DENTURES

Dentures or false teeth are removable dental prosthetics that replace some or all of your teeth. Full dentures are removed daily for cleaning. Immediate full dentures are placed immediately after the extraction of your remaining teeth. Partial dentures usually have a metal clasp that attached to remaining teeth and are removed daily. Dentures may need to be replaced over time as you age, due to illness and/or weight gain or loss.  Daily cleaning of the dentures is very important as well as continued oral hygiene.

CROWNS

Dental crowns or “caps” cover the entire surface of a damaged tooth. Dental crowns are made of porcelain (ceramic), metal or a combination of both and may last up to 5 years or more. Dr. Ilawan makes Cerec®  crowns in the office while you wait. Occasionally he chooses the traditional porcelain fused to metal crowns which are made in an outside lab.

ROOT CANALS

When a tooth is damaged on the inside, it can be necessary to remove the pulp or soft tissue and infected nerves that are in a chamber of the tooth.  If left untreated this type of infection may abscess. This procedure is done in several steps and may take more than one dental visit, depending on the extent of the damage. Teeth that have been restored with root canal therapy can last as long as your natural teeth with proper care.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain veneers or laminates are custom made of a very thin shell of porcelain.  They are bonded to the front portion of a tooth so they hide imperfections such as color, size, shape and even position.  After bonding the veneer in place, they are extremely strong and durable.  Veneers may be used to redesign and reshape your entire mouth.

DENTAL BRIDGES

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth with crowns or implants.  They are unmovable, only your dentist can take them out. When you have one or more missing teeth, the remaining teeth can shift. A dental bridge spans or closes in the space to prevent this shift. Dental bridges can last a lifetime however, they can also loosen or fall out

IMPLANTS

Although Dr. Ilawan does not place the dental implant, he does the restoration that attaches to an implant. This could be an implant crown, implant retained bridge or implant retained dentures.

BONDING

Dental bonding is a great way  to correct structural and/or cosmetic imperfections of the teeth.  Bonding can be used on cracked, discolored and chipped teeth.  It can be used on misaligned teeth by giving you a straighter looking smile.  If you have a gap between two teeth in the front but do not want braces, or if you have a chip that is too small for a veneer, then dental bonding may be the answer.
